Pedaling to the clouds

Quick reminder to my future self that getting up and out early, even if it's not before sunrise, it totally worth it because of views like --->  Richmond - San Rafael Bridge, East Bound, 1/26/20 8amish The ride lasted just over 3 hours. Headed out on the Bay Trail along the water and stopped near the dog park at Point Isabel . I realized just how much I was enjoying the sounds of birds and occasional passersby when it was interrupted by the traffic on the nearing freeway so decided to turn back to the nature path and enjoy the stretch again the path goes through marshy area on one side and the bay on the other. Chock-full of all kinds of birds and vegetation.

The only trouble with out and back on a bicycle...

is that you have to turn around eventually. I found myself on the Richmond to Albany section of the Bay Trail. The pavement was smooth, the path clear and it was easy to pedal and pedal. One of the markers along the Rosie the Riveter path . Picture doesn't do it justice...lots of seagulls, all facing same direction. January 20, 2020

Ghost town and visions of a house in California. Sat., Jan. 11, 2020

Took a left off the bridge path instead of the right which has become my habit. This sign leads you to the shoulder of 580...little misleading. Found a rugged quasi industrial, quasi government, somewhat abandoned feeling stretch of road ripe with potholes and debris. Chunks of asphalt and medium sized rocks dot the road and litter adorns most of the pull outs: spent liquor and beer bottles, fast food wrappers and plastic bags which cling to the dried out weeds.  Winehaven, CA A bit windy with some incline, kept wondering what might be just around the curve. Point Molate Beach Park  has a porta-potty, grills and picnic tables. Only a few cars in the parking lot on this day.  Sunny yet cold and windy, it was a relief to be away from the intensity of the bridge traffic and wind to a quieter more desolate place. Little did I know that I was passing through a ghost town, Winehaven , which once held the world's largest winery.  Nothin...

Why do we pay so much to live in California? Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020

View from Larkspur, CA Rides like this with a view like that ---> Nice ride - clear day. Aids Lifecycle Group past me shortly after I took this picture...getting ready for summer. Funny the difference between their energy (calling out as they past and pointing out traffic to one another) and that of other groups who seem to be spearing their way through traffic. Fishers, runners, walkers and of course cyclists on the bridge. Families, solos, couples and friends.
