Last Call...

Split sky looking toward Marin from Pt. Molate Beach area This is a shot from my ride last week, probably the last for a while as we all hunker down in the face of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Had I known, or thought through the possible implications of the outbreak and the need to avoid accidents at all costs, I would have done another lap, decided to just go around that one extra corner and stay out a little longer ---  c'est la vie. It's definitely nesting season! Keeping an eye on me getting an eye on him.

Rosie's Passing...

Rosie the Riveter passed this weekend. Only seems fitting to make a pass by her museum during this weekend's ride. Chilly afternoon, lots of big bright fluffy clouds. Only a few riders and walkers using the path. Making time for a ride a week is proving more challenging than I assumed it would, especially when I don't get out first thing. Today I wasn't ready until mid-afternoon leaving little time to make dinner upon return. I had a whole roasting chicken in fridge so threw it in the slow cooker on the way out. Lots of flavors you can throw in and recipes to choose from. I chose ginger, garlic, soy, scallion, hoisin...was tender and juicy by the time I returmed. Served it with noodles and veggies.

commuters and world events

First ride during a workday, headed over the bridge around 4pm on the first Monday of March. Unlike a typical weekend day which features scooters, skaters, walkers and explorers...this day was cyclists only. Judging by their pace and packs, I assume they were all commuters. After reading this article about delayed traffic and corresponding auto-commuter disruption , I was keen to see how many cyclists there'd be. I counted 10 total though they seemed to be increasing toward 5pm as my ride wrapped. This statue, The Sentinel, in Richmond Point struck me. The original was dismantled, in part, for use as scrap metal during WWII. We are facing another world wide crisis with the Corona Virus...interesting what can bring the whole world together or tear us apart.
