Wind. Just wind.

Coming back home as the sun dips behind Mt. Tam. Evening Sunday ride this week. Wind gusts up to 80 in parts of the Bay Area. The Richmond Bridge is 5.5 miles long including approaches. In the wind it feels unending. Wind brings life to the quiet sheltered areas which might otherwise go unnoticed. They are such a relief from the noise and the (perceived?) threat of being knocked over. A couple on bicycles on Franciso Blvd. called out asking if they were headed the right direction to the bridge path. I replied yes, but its super windy. The woman shook her head like yeah, duh. I wonder if they made it across.

Overheard on the ride

Wrong way off Cutting Blvd. "...have to get SUPERBOWL FOOD..." a woman walking by herself toward grocery store "Thank you for stopping. Seriously, most cyclists don't." an elderly woman in a crosswalk to a group of 3 cyclists in front of me at a stoplight in Larkspur "That path doesn't have a good user-interface...let's go forward." a cyclist to another, near Larkspur/Marin General Hospital construction area "Hey! You *(%*7!" me to a cyclist in wrong lane heading straight for me on the Richmond Bridge. he didn't allow enough space to pass. "No. I am not stopping or waiting for you. It's too nice out." a mom to her kid who was trailing behind with a dog, got something on her shoe "Yes. I am on Strava. Maybe we can connect on LinkedIn" cyclist in a group behind me heading back toward Pt. Richmond "Where did you come from?" a guy driving alongside me in a car near Pt. Richmond....
